A manuscript appraisal (also known as a manuscript assessment, manuscript critique, or manuscript evaluation) is the first read-through of your completed manuscript. Once the evaluation is complete, you’ll receive a 6+ page appraisal and a post-delivery consultation to discuss the most important areas of your manuscript.

The developmental edit (also known as the substantive, structural or content edit) focuses on overall worldbuilding, character development, pacing, tone, and story structure. Once the edit is complete, your manuscript will be returned packed with comments, alongide an 8+ page appraisal. Following the edit, a consultation will be arranged to discuss the most important areas of your manuscript.

The Line & Copy Edit combines two complementary editing stages. The first focuses on clarity, flow, voice, and sentence structure, while the latter ensures correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency. These stages naturally overlap, so they’re provided as a single comprehensive service. Upon completion you’ll receive your manuscript back with tracked changes, alongside editorial notes.

The proofread is the final stage before publication to ensure your manuscript is ready for its debut. Your manuscript will be returned with comments where appropriate, alongside a summary letter.
